1. Describe the stasis in the play: where, when, who, what, etc. in a paragraph.

Disgraced was a curated in 2011 in New York (an apartment). The play is centralized around the main character, Amir, who is asked to represent an Imam by his nephew, Abe. The Imam is being convicted of being involved in terrorism. Amir is originally against this idea as he prefers to distance himself from his culture of Islam and this may hurt his career as a lawyer and the firm may not promote him as a partner. But ultimately, Amir ends up taking the case for his nephew.

2. What is the intrusion?

The intrusion is when the newspaper publishes the news about Amir and the Imam. This ultimately causes conflict throughout the rest of the play that leads to Amir not getting promoted, but worse, the fact that he ruins his relationship with his family and friends.

3. What is the unique factor?

This is the day that Amir realizes that he is no longer who he thought he was. The old Amir is essentially dead and we don't know who the new Amir will be as his place in the world.

4. What is the dramatic question that should be answered by the end of the play?

Will The Imam get justice?

Will Abe find his true identity?

5. Provide an illustration of the two kinds of exposition that the play has in it.

One exposition is when his wife has an affair. Also, when Isaac tells Emily that he won''t be a partner in the firm is another exposition. We are given the exposition known to everyone such as the location of the play in NY and other information told explicitly to the audience.

6. Identify the most theatrical moment in the play and of what importance it seems to be.

This is when he slugs his wife.

7. List some of the themes of the play.

Identity
Acceptance
Self-dillusion

8. What does the chief character want and what are some obstacles that stand in the way of his getting what he wants?

The chief character wants a promotion but the case with the Imam and the fact that his lie catches up with him prevents this goal from occurring.

9. Describe some possible images in the play and how does the title help us understand the play.

Painting is an image and the Muslim attire of Abe was another image. The thread count of Abe is also another image as it represents wealth.

10. Briefly define the family relationships that are examined in the play.

The family relationship gets very dicey at the end as Abe and Amir's wife want nothing to do with Amir. But in the beginning of the play, the family relationship is strong enough to where Amir puts his own ideals aside as well as his career on the line by representing an Imam, something he was uncomfortable with doing just because his nephew asked him to.
